Anti-Radicalisation Workshop (2018)
St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Primary School were visited recently by two representatives from ‘Just Enough UK’ who came to deliver Anti-Radicalisation workshops to our Year 5 and Year 6 children. They presented the concept of radicalisation by using the historical events surrounding the Gunpowder Plot. This proved a very innovative way of introducing the issues involved from a catholic perspective. The pupils really had to adjust their thinking on who could be vulnerable to radicalisation and how it might happen, including the potential dangers of radicalisation through social media. Time was also given to recognising that all the major faiths of the world use their actions and voices to deliver messages of peace, not violence. The workshops sent out some very powerful messages in a safe, interactive and fun environment which really challenged the pre-conceptions of the subject for both adults and pupils alike.
