Easter Week

Find out all about our topics, special events, learning and amazing acheivements over the last week!

Our Learning Journey this Week

This week, we have continued our topic of ‘The Gruffalo’ and have been taking part in lots of Easter activities! We watched the Year 5 production of the Easter story and shared Easter Eggs during the Big Egg Swap!

We would like to wish you all a peaceful Easter time and look forward to seeing you back at school after the half term.

Literacy

In literacy, we have acted out ‘The Gruffalo’ story, made ‘Gruffalo crumble’ and wrote speech bubbles for our favourite characters. We made beautiful Easter cards for our families and used our phonics skills to write messages inside them. We can’t wait to celebrate with our families at home!

Maths

In maths, we have been learning about money. We investigated the different coins, practised naming and sorting them and pretended to buy different things in our ‘Easter Shop’.  We used the coins to practise counting and adding two amounts together.

See more photos of our learning here!

R.E

In R.E., we have been continuing with our topic of ‘Growing.’ The children have been thinking about the Easter story and what this means to us. We have looked back at our Lenten promises and talked about how we have grown during Lent. We shared some delicious hot cross buns to celebrate Easter together. Why not make some with your family during half term?

This week's challenge:

As we have two weeks at home for the Easter break, we are sending out two very exciting challenges!

Challenge 1 - Coin Challenge!

We have been learning about money this week at school. At home, why not take a walk to the shop to buy a healthy snack? How much will it cost? How many different coins will you use to pay for it? Can you write a sentence, draw a picture or take a photograph to tell us all about your trip to the shop? Parents/carers - don't forget to write a note of the language the children are using and send it in to us at our email addresses above.

Challenge 2 - Easter celebrations!

We have been learning about the Easter story this week at school. We want to find out how you have celebrated Easter at home! Perhaps you went to a special service at church, gathered with your family or went on an Easter egg hunt?

Please draw or paint a picture and write about the celebrations that you took  part in with your family. We look forward to hearing all about it!

Don't forget to practise reading every day!

Have a wonderful Easter break and we will see you all back at school on Monday 16th April.
